June-San Deigo part 1

June started with lots of splash pads with friends (and friend/cousin Weston). We loved it!IMG_5307

We went to San Diego at the beginning of June with some of Dan’s family and we had a blast. We drove about halfway the first day and I was pretty worried about Owen’s history of carsickness. He did great until about 4 hours into the trip then he threw up multiple times. We had this huge bib on him and a barf bucket ready, but we let our guard down and took it off after a few hours and then he barfed all over his clothes. It sucked.

But we made it to San Diego the next day and went straight to the beach! Owen wasn’t too sure about the waves and cold water, but he loved walking in the sand with grandpa.

Seriously the best picture I could get with this wild man. He just wanted to kick sand around!

Riding on Dan’s shoulders was a pretty common thing. Dan is awesome and strong and will pretty much always let Owen ride on his shoulders or carry him when I almost always say no!IMG_5318

On Sunday we drove to Old Town, which was really close to the KOA that we stayed. Owen really wanted Grandma to push him in the stroller. We are so glad Dan’s parents drove their RV so we could throw this huge stroller in there. It was so nice to push everywhere and Owen slept in it a ton!

We went to the Mormon Battalion museum which was pretty cool. We had to wait quite a while before we could get a tour, but the kids all played in the grass across the street, and we sat in the shade so it wasn’t too bad.IMG_5348

The tour was fun and interactive and the kids really enjoyed it. Afterwards we got to pan for gold and take a few rocks home. Owen mostly just wanted to splash and dump the water out.

We had a bit of a diarrhea incident on Monday morning at about 5am with Owen. It was pretty terrible, and I was so afraid that he was sick and our whole trip could be ruined. But we got him cleaned up and he went back to bed for a few hours, then woke up fine! We went to Seaworld and had tons of fun with cousins!

Owen loved his little whale souvenir and didn’t put it down for most of the trip!

His face was totally priceless when we watched the whale show and he clapped along to the music. I loved watching how happy he was!

We spent a lot of time in the KOA pool with the whale.

We stopped at the temple on our way to the beach and just walked around the grounds for a little while. It was gorgeous and so so CLEAN!

Owen liked the water, but he loved the sand and he and Weston spent the whole day just digging and playing in the sand.IMG_5392IMG_5386

He spent some time in the water with Dan but most of his time was on the beach with his cute cousins.

We went to the USS Midway downtown and decided to ride public transportation with Dave’s family. It was pretty exciting and we definitely stood out. I’m pretty sure we were the only white people and there were some super sketchy people, but it was funny and we had a good time.

We wandered around the Midway for a while and it was pretty cool to see how huge the carrier was. Dan’s dad was in heaven and Owen liked driving the planes and helicopters.

We got lunch at a restaurant on the carrier and I was stoked when the waiter gave me a DC with MY NAME ON IT. And it was spelled right! So exciting.

Owen loved sitting at the tall table with his big cousins. These boys are pretty cute!

It finally started warming up towards the end of May (except for a super warm week or two in April), and we were ready for summer. Owen still loves all kinds of machines and big trucks, and he knows all the different names of them. Don’t call them all tractors or he will correct you. My mom bought him this loader shirt and he was stoked that it matched his little toy loader.IMG_5201IMG_5220

Mother’s Day was great and Dan bought me 6 pounds of cherry jelly bellys! I have really been craving them (even though I always love them). I was pretty shocked, but Owen and I managed to pound them all over the next few weeks!

We spent a lot of time playing at the museum, the farm, and the aquarium with friends before it got super warm. Owen absolutely loves riding the horses, so we just go to the farm and ride them and ride the wagon, then go over to the children’s museum. He and Myka were dancing in the dress up clothes and cracking us up.

These two cousins are pretty cute. We play with them a lot and we have a little group of us that play a lot together. Weston is about 5 months younger than Owen and they just have a blast together. They get a little crazy when toys or trucks are around, but if we keep the toys away, they are super cute and fun together.

We had a Memorial Day BBQ at Danny’s aunt’s house in South Jordan and Great Grandpa Goates pushed Owen for quite a while!

My mom and sister and I had a girls weekend in St. George and it was a blast. I left Owen home and it was nice to just relax with my mom and sis. We ate a lot, saw a movie, and went to the temple together.IMG_5297

Our neighbor finally got the retaining wall done (after some drama…ugh) so we could bring in gravel and finish the playground area. Dan’s parents and our awesome neighbor helped haul gravel to the backyard and I raked it and we got it almost completely done in an evening! It looks awesome and Owen loves his “park” and the neighbor kids spend a lot of time back there too. The gravel has been great so far and really fun for Owen to dig and play in.

One of our first splash pad days with Owen’s girlfriends. Elsie and Kameron are cuties and we have fun playing with them a lot.

We took flowers to my dad’s grave for Memorial Day and I brought the Grandpa Mike book I made Owen a while ago with pictures of my dad. I didn’t realize Dan took this picture, but I kind of love it. Owen knows exactly who Grandpa Mike is and we talk about him a lot. I hope he always knows about him too!

I love this cutie pie and I love all the fun things we get to do together during the day. I don’t have many pictures of Dan this month, but that’s probably because we just play when dad gets home and I don’t worry about pictures as much! But Dan gets home around 4:30 most days and it’s awesome! Owen can’t wait and everything is just more fun when dad gets home!

Ahh I’m getting behind and I can’t let that happen. Here are some things we did in April!

We drove to visit family in California with my mom. These two snoozed and played in the backseat and Owen barfed a few times, but luckily Dan was there to catch it. Sweet.

Owen LOVED my aunt and uncle's house (it is pretty awesome, we feel like we get so spoiled when we go). He loved Keith and Karen, and their dog Indy a lot. Unfortunately, he and I got the sickies and were both sick most of the short trip!

It was kind of the worst because we didn’t get to see my cousin and her new baby and Owen was banished to the bedroom, then when he was feeling better, I got sick. It was no good. Luckily we were both mostly better for an Easter egg hunt and dinner that night before we had to leave the next morning.

The construction next door kept Owen’s interest with tons of machines and various trucks coming and going all the time. It was very entertaining and I found him peeking out of his blinds numerous times to check out the excitement.

This little stud muffin looked adorable in his Easter outfit. He is the cutest.

We got a random big snowstorm in mid-April (not too surprising) and we had to go play! Owen loved it and doesn’t ever get cold, even with his gloves off.

It warmed right back up again and we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple to check out the flowers one morning. He loved the fountains and it was nice to go see the beautiful temple with my cute boy.IMG_5175IMG_5184

We played with friends a lot and went to the Tulip Festival as well.

I forgot to lock Owen’s door before bed and he when he woke up, he just walked into my room looking like this! I about died laughing and it took him a second before he realized he wasn’t in trouble. He never gets out of bed and never tries getting out of his room, so it was just really funny that the one time he tried, the door wasn’t even locked.

We got a sweet play set for Owen and it arrived earlier that we thought, so Dan and I got it all set up in the middle of the backyard until we were ready to move it. Owen was so happy to have a “park” at his house, and the bucket swing was (and still is) his absolute favorite thing. He is in heaven and wants to be pushed as much as possible. Luckily dad is pretty awesome and will push him forever (mom is done after 10 mins…) April was a good one!
